Opal cabochons are not easy to photograph. It is especially difficult to photograph
the light colored ones and show the colors properly. We make every
effort to show the cabs as accurately as possible and further, to describe what we see
when looking at them as accurately as possible. If you have questions about any one
of them, we will be happy to describe it further. If you do not find exactly what you are
looking for, we will be happy to cut one just for you. Just send us an email or give

Party Stripes Opal Cabochon is one of those very interesting
opals that shows fantastic color when viewed from a certain direction. To read about
this phenomenon please go to our web page devoted to explaining it. Directional Play of Color. This is a black or
semi-black with a sandy back, but that will not show if the opal is bezel set. I
would set this one as a pendant most likely with the flat side up which is the viewing
direction that shows the fire. It would throw a lot of fire in a ring directionally
as well.
