Colorado Inspired Art Jewelry

If you have looked around this web site very much you know that we love
all things related to the Colorado Rocky Mountains that we call home. As a way of
preserving a little bit of that mystic and sharing it with others, we incorporate part of
it into some of our jewelry. We also create some pieces just for fun from the
available treasure trove of natural elements such as the pine needle castings which
tourists to this area love. We hope that you enjoy seeing Colorado through jewelry!
HOME
Pine Needle Casting
The towering pines of the Colorado Rockies are awe
inspiring to all who see them. Their fragrance brings pleasant
aromas to afternoon walks through the forest.
Their abundant branches provide homes and protective shelter for the many
varieties of birds. The conifers are our only foliage through the majority of the
year and serve as a stunning backdrop to our winter vistas. We revere them and
feel blessed to live in their shadows.
The forest floor is always coated with dried needles from the pines
(and lots of other wonderful organic material depending on the season). It is an
easy task to take a small sack to the forest and gather some of the needles for an
afternoon of pine needle casting. The needles are arranged in a fire proof container
according to any number of theories and then molten metal is poured over them. The
metal "freezes" as it cools and takes on the impression of the needles themselves.
Freezing
into metal the appearance of those pine needles on that particular day in time, a fitting
tribute to my way of thinking.
Obviously, these pendants are not the time consuming creations that
constitutes most of our work, so they are priced by roughly by the weight of the metal
involved in the individual piece. We can set stones onto them or in some cases into
them. If you would prefer to see an opal or another gemstone decorating one of them,
we will be happy to discuss that with you. All of them have a loop at the top to
allow attachment to a chain. We can also provide chains upon request, but chains are
not included in the price.

Aspen Leaf Jewelry
My personal favorite is the aspen leaf jewelry pieces that we create.
We have created them in many different ways and will continue to do
so as time goes by.
The wonderful coloration of the aspen leaves
lends itself to fantastic enamel interpretations mimicking
the beautiful colors. We also create them in silver and gold and various other
metals. Fall always inspires new creations so be sure to check back to this page for
additional visions of fall aspen leaves.

Silver Aspen Leaf with Citrine and 14K Gold Ball and Matching Pierced
Earrings
$ 150
If you love fall, or aspens or all things Colorado, then this is the
piece for you. You might also take a look at our Personal Photograph Album page for
a look at our view of the aspens in their glory! The pendant was made by tracing
around a real aspen leaf on a sheet of sterling silver. The vein of the leaf
is extended to be the bail of the pendant. A small ball is added for
decoration along with an oval citrine. There is a set of pierced earrings that
are part of this set. To see the earrings click on the pendant. It is a
beautiful set that you will treasure for years to come!

Aspen Treasure

Show of Fall
Aspen Leaf Enameled Pins or Pendants
$ 45 your choice
These are enameled copper images of aspen leaves. Each comes with
a pin back and a looped bail that would allow you to wear the piece as a pendant.
Primarily they are designed to be worn as pins on a coat or jacket. A cheerful
reminder of the glory of fall! The pins measure approximately 48 mm x 36 mm.
Aspen Leaf Earrings
$ 25.00

These are aspen leaf copper enameled earrings with gold filled ear
wires and a gold filled rib on the leaf. The enamels in this case are "home oven
cooked" enamels rather than the normal kiln enamels that we use.

Aspen Grove IV
Not available at this time
Aspen Grove IV is one in an ongoing series of enameling each of which
depict as aspen grove in some manner. It this scene the blue tones of the late
wildflowers are depicted and echoed in the large blue chalcedony and small tanzanite
cabochons. The little aspen leaves are designed to move in a manner reminiscent of
the movement of the leaves on the "quakies," which are the small aspen trees.
The enamel is based on fine silver and sent with a fine silver bezel. The
base of the pendant is sterling silver as are the leaves and wires. The price
includes an 18" rhodium plated sterling silver chain. Another totally unique
piece of art jewelry! This pendant looks great on the blue lace agate chip necklace
located on the Beads page of this web site.

Portrait of a Leaf
Not available at this time.
Portrait of a Leaf is an enameled "portrait " of a single
aspen leaf. Smaller leaves decorate the bottom of the piece and create the bail
which is set with a citrine. A totally unique piece of jewelry!
The enamel is based on fine silver and set onto sterling silver with a fine silver
bezel. The piece measures 50 mm from the top of the piece to the bottom and 42 mm
wide. A unique piece of jewelry for aspen lovers! Take a look at some of the aspen
photos in the Personal Photograph Album section of this site and you will get an idea of
why we love them so much!
