From the French amphi- + phoreus - meaning bearer.
Classically, amphora were ancient Greek jars or vases that
had a large body with a somewhat oval shape, a comparatively narrow
tubular neck and two handles positioned high on the body and neck rising to a level that
is very close to the same plane as the mouth of the jar. More recently the term has
been used to describe any two handled vessel.
We shall use this term to describe beautiful miniature vessels
designed to bear a few drops of heady fragrance or other minute keepsakes and treasures.
These beautiful creations are all hand made, one-of-a-kind creations.

Two Blues Amphora -

Two Blues Amphora is the lamp worked creation of Ginny Sycuro a
nationally know glass bead maker, lamp working instructor and bead making columnist.
The colors as they appear on my monitor differ slightly from the actual vessel
which is slightly toward the turquoise side of the blue family. A cork is supplied
in case you want it, but it is not necessary to keep a few drops of your favorite
fragrance lingering nearby.

Cherry Red Floral Amphora is a lovely creation by Ginny Sycuro a

The red in this piece is an opaque deep purplely red and not the tomato red that it
appears to be in the photo. The accompanying colors are bright spring greens,
yellows and whites. It is a natural to combine with peridot chips, white shell and
yellow glass.

Spring Dance on Black is a striking piece by Ginny Sycuro a

Opaque black forms the base which decorated by bright greens, yellows, white and
pleasing cranberry red (the red is not as orange as the photo shows, but is darker and
more towards the purple than the orange). I would be tempted to strand this one on
black with dots of brightly colored beads here and there to mimic the design

This beautiful piece combines transparent amethyst purple glass with sparkling
swirls of dichroic glass. The overall effect is stunning. I gave up and
photographed the piece against the light to show the true purple coloration that is in the
piece.

Oriental Flair Amphora is a creation of Ginny Sycuro a
nationally know glass bead maker, lamp working instructor and bead making columnist. This
vessel reminds me of the Oriental brush drawing that are so bold and simple. The
surface of the bead is opaque white with bold black lines and lavender/purple spots.
The holes in the handles are vertical, you can almost see one of the holes in the
bottom of the handle in the middle photo.
